Long story in short

1) Notification Date: As per the SSC Calendar 2017 Schedule, Notification for SSC CHSL2017 Exam, will be announced on 18th November 2017 and Online Registration, will close on 18th December 2017. 

2) Exam Dates: SSC CHSL 2017 Tier-1 Exams are tentatively scheduled to start from 20th April and will end on 20th April 2017.

3) Changes, If any: As of now, SSC had not proposed any changes either in the Syllabus or in the Pattern of the Exam. For exact information, we have to wait for Official Notification


SSC CHSL Exam is considered to be one of the most sought after, exams in India, reason is that, basic Qualification to apply for this exam is only 10+2 and who doesn't want a Government Job so early in life and craze gets more, when we known that its a Central Government Job, having Pay-Scale (As per 7th Pay Commission).

This Exam is Popular: On an average, this exam is being taken by over 50 lakh candidates (64 Lakh Registered in 2016 Exam) for a few thousand posts. This post vacancy ratio in CHSL, make its one of the most competitive exams in India.

Its even more competitive that SSC's Combined Graduate Level Exam. In CGL-2016 Exam, 35 lakh applications were received and we expected that In 2017 CHSL may have recorded no. of applicants apply for the exam.

Will SSC CHSL-2017 Notification be Delayed?


If everything, goes as planned, then there is no reason for SSC to postpone the SSC CHSL 2017 Notification. However, SSC is known for Delaying or postponing the Notifications, Results etc

In 2016, CHSL Notification was delayed by 3 months and it was released on 8th October 2017. SSC had cited the following reasons for the delay of CHSL Notification

1) SSC had informed that it is in the process of making the CHSL Exam to online mode (Computer Based Exam), and the modalities are yet to be completed.

2) Once, the formalities are completed, the Commission, will upload the CHSL 2016 Advertisement on its Official and other regional websites.

All we can expect that this time, there is No Delay and postponement of CHSL Notification and everything goes as planned in the SSC Calendar, 2017.

However, If there is any information on CHSL 2017 Notification, we will update this page. So, it is advised that left all the worries, and start preparing for the exam by Revising the SSC CHSL Syllabus

What is the Eligibility Criteria?


Applicants willing to appear for the SSC CHSL 2017 Exam, must full fill the below-mentioned eligibility conditions. 

The date of reckoning the eligibility criteria is 1st November 2017

1) Nationality: Applicant must be an Indian citizen to appear in the CHSL 2017 Exam

2) Age-Limit: The age criteria is 18-27 years. However, there are relaxation in age limit, as per the specified rules.

3) Educational Qualification (As on 01-11-2017): Applicant should have passed the Inter (12th Class) from any recognized Board or University in India.

How to Get the CHSL 2017 Notification?

Applicants who apply for CHSL Exam are both from Rural as well as urban areas, so SSC keeps a balance by providing Notification through Online as well as Offline mode. While Urban population is used to technology, so for them, SSC has an electronic version of Advt, those from Rural background can get the Notification from Employment Newspaper.

So here are three possible ways, to get the Notification

1) By Employment Newspaper: Employment Newspaper, has always been the best sources for getting Job Related information. All the SSC and UPSC's Exam and Recruitment Notifications are published in the weekly Paper. You can find it easily at the Book stalls and stationery shops. Moreover, you can also get this Paper in Electronic Format (PDF) by requesting for a subscriptions at the Official Website of Employment Newspaper.

Whenever, the CHSL 2017 Notification, gets announced, the Detailed Advertisement, will be published in this Paper. In 2016, instead of publishing the Detailed Advertisement, SSC had only published a short notice. That means for Detailed Notification, you have to check the Official Website OR SSC CHSL Website

2) SSC Website: This is the most popular way these days to get the Notification in the PDF Format. Simply Open the Official SSC Website (www.ssc.nic.in) and download the Notification from the Notices Tab. 

Notification can also be downloaded from the Regional SSC Websites too.

3) CHSL 2017 Website:  This is an exclusive CHSL website, primarily designed to provide updates on CHSL 2017 Exam. Not only the Notification, the website has each and everything, you need to crack the CHSL Exam in the first attempt.

What are the various Posts in CHSL 2017?


SSC CHSL is known to be conducted for Group C posts in various Central Government Departments and Ministries, but in 2015 another post "Postal / Sorting Assistants" in Department of posts, was announced. 

Now these posts have also been figured in the CHSL 2016 Notification. Along with it there is addition of another Post "Court Clerks". 

1) Data Entry Operator
2) Lower Division Clerks

Pay Scale: These posts carry the Pay-scale of Rs 5200-Rs 20200 (GP: 1900 & 2400) 

What after the Notification?


Once the Notification, will be announced, the next step is going through the Official Notification,  to find if there are any changes in the, CHSL Eligibility Criteria Exam pattern or Syllabus, and take note of the the Important Dates for submitting the online application.

After that, you should read the Instructions for submitting the application form, If you choose online form for registration, then make sure you apply well before the Last Date and If you chose to apply through Paper application form, then make sure, you apply early, and not to wait for the last dates, as SSC won't be responsible for any postal delays.

SSC CHSL Notification Schedule: Last 5 years


SSC never follows a fixed schedule or timetable for the CHSL Exam. In 2015 the Notification was announced in mid June, while in 2014 the Notification, was announced in 3rd week of July. But, if we see the trend of previous years, the Notification, for most of the time was announced in the month of July.

In 2017, SSC CHSL Notification is tentatively scheduled to be published on 5th August, 2017 and Written Exams will be held from 17th to 30th November, 2017

SSC CGL 2017 Admit Card

Selection Process and Exam Pattern 


The Selection process for the Recruitment to various posts through SSC CHSL Exam, comprises of Written test, Descriptive test and followed by Skill test / Typing test. 

Remember, there is No Interview in the CHSL Exam. You only have to First Qualify the Written test, then appear of CHSL Descriptive Paper and thereafter, Skill test.

Written Exam: All those candidates who apply for this exam, will have to appear for written exam (Online Computer-based Exam) at the specified Dates and venues. The Dates and Examination centers for written exam, will be known, only after you Download the SSC CHSL 2017 Admit cards . 

It is expected that Admit cards will be available from 2nd Week of Feb 2018  and CHSL Tier-1 2017 Online exams are scheduled to be held from 20th March  to 20th April 2018 

The Duration of Written Exam is  75 minutes only, but visually handicapped candidates will get an additional 25 mins time.

Note: On the Day of exam, reach the Examination center at least 1 hour before the Exam start time. After that No Candidates will be  allowed in the Examination Venue.

1) Negative Marking : Be careful, while attempting Questions, as there is penalty of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer

2) Question Paper will be bilingual ie Both in Hindi and English, except for English section

Admit Cards for SSC CHSL Exam

To appear in the CHSL 2017 Tier-1 Online Exam, you must have Admit cards, issued by SSC.

Remember, SSC CHSL 2017 Admit cards, will be issued only to those, who submit their applications before the closing date ie 18th December 2017

1) Admit cards, can be downloaded only from the Regional SSC Websites by using your Registration details . If, you belong to J&K, HP, Punjab and Harayana, then you have to download the Admit cards from the Official website  of SSCNWR. 2) Admit cards are issued at least 2 weeks before the written exam. As the CHSL 2017 Exam Notification is yet to be announced. Once the Notification, gets announced, we will update this page, regarding the Exact Date for availability of CHSL Admit cards. 

3) Not, only Admit cards, you should also carry, your Identity Proof in Original for appearing in the Examination.

Moreover, applicants are advised to carry, at least 3 photographs to the Examination hall and retain at least 10 photographs till the completion of selection process.

How to Apply?


Applicants who full fill the above mentioned Eligibility conditions, must apply either through Online mode and submit the application forms before 18th December 2017

Online Application: This is the most convenient method to apply for CHSL Exam. Online Registration takes no more than 30 minutes. Before, you proceed to apply online, make sure you have your Scanned Photo and Signature.

You can submit the online application by logging on to the Official website at www.ssc.nic.in Or at www.ssconline2.gov.in

The Online Registration will start from 18th November 2017 and the Last date to submit the CHSL 2017 Online Application form is 18th December 2017

Paper Application form: If, you are not convenient with the Online mode of application then, you can also submit your application form, through Offline mode (Paper Application form) . 

The Paper application forms, can be obtained from the Local Stationary / Photostat shops. 


Note : From 2016 , SSC had discontinued submitting the Paper application forms, and as such, you are required to submit your application through online mode only.

New SSC CHSL Syllabus 2017 for 10+2 Exam

If you are reading this post, then you might be looking for SSC CHSL 2017 Syllabus and believe me, you are on the Right page as here, we will discuss the Detailed SSC CHSL 2017 Syllabus, along with the Scheme and Pattern of Exam. SSC had made a few changes in the Schedule of SSC CHSL 2017 Exam. SSC CHSL Exam is one of the most popular exams, next only to SSC CGL Exam, conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC). While the CGL Exam is for graduates for Group B and C posts, CHSL Exam is for intermediates, who have passed the 12th Class. The Age Limit to appear in this exam 18-27 years.

SSC CHSL Descriptive Paper Syllabus 2016

Passed the SSC CHSL 2016 Tier-1 Written Exam? Know, what and how to prepare for SSC CHSL Descriptive Paper 


Long story in Short
  • Descriptive Paper is tentatively scheduled on 25th June 2017. 
  • SSC announced the CHSL 2016 Tier-1 Results on 1st June 2017, in which approximately 53000 candidates are shortlisted for Descriptive Paper. 
  • Exact Date of SSC CHSL Descriptive Paper will be available soon on the Regional Websites. Remember, 25th June is a Tentative Date only and Exact date will be known, only after these will be announced on Regional Websites.
  • Syllabus is already released by SSC and will remain the same
  • Admit Cards for Descriptive Paper will be announced soon.

SSC CHSL 2016 Tier-1 results were announced on 1st June 2017, in which approximately 53,000 candidates are Shortlisted for the Descriptive Paper (Tier-2 Exam). It is worth mentioning here that 30 lakh candidates have appeared in the exam and out of which only 1.76% are shortlisted for Next stage.

It was for the First time in 2016 that SSC CHSL Exams were held through online mode and this Shifting has an impact on the Cut off Marks. We have already seen an increase in the Cut off Marks for SSC CGL 2016 Exam, after it was held through online mode and this time, the same thing happened in CHSL Exam too, with Cut off go as high as 127 Marks. For 2015 CHSL Exam, Cut off were 119 Marks.

Now the Next step for those who Qualify the Tier-1 Exam is to appear in the Tier-2 stage comprising of Descriptive Paper.

This is for the 2nd time, there will be a descriptive paper in CHSL Exam. Descriptive Paper was conducted for the first time in CHSL 2015 Exam.

In the results that were announced on 29th July 2016, out of 30 lakh candidates, that appeared for the exam in the month of Nov/Dec 2015, only 60 thousand made it to the next stage of the Exam (ie Descriptive Paper). ie. Only 2 % of the appearing candidates. that means 98% candidates are left disappointed. and for 2016 CHSL Exam, the picture remains, even more, worse with only 1.76% candidates making it to the Descriptive Paper

If, you will be the one of those, who is not selected in the CHSL 2016 Tier-1 Results, then, you should start preparing for SSC CHSL 2017 Exam, as the Notification, will be announced in the month of November 2017. It is expected that there will be around 8,000 posts in the SSC CHSL 2017 Exam.

SSC CHSL Admit Card 2016 for LDC DEO Tier-1 Exam

Exam Dates Confirmed : On 8th Dec, 2016, SSC had released a Notification confirming the CHSL 2016 Exam Dates. As per the Notification, there is No change in the CHSL Exam Dates, that are going to commence from 7th Jan, 2017 to 5th Feb, 2017

Admit Cards for SSC CHSL 2016 Exam, are available for Download now.


SSC CHSL 2016 Exam Dates has been finalized now and as per the SSC CHSL Notification, released by SSC on 8th October, 2016, the CHSL 2016 Online Exam will be conducted from 7th January to 5th February, 2017 at selected examination centers all over the country. The Exam Date, Time, shift and venue of your exam  will be known only after you download the CHSL Admit Card 2016..

It is worth mentioning here that Admit cards for CHSL 2016 Tier-1 Exam, will be uploaded at least 2 weeks before the Exam Date. As the CHSL Exams are commencing from 7th January, 2017, so we can expect that Admit Cards will be available from Third week of December.

Moreover, SSC will also release a Detailed Schedule for Downloading of Admit Cards. As SSC conducts the CHSL online Exam in batches and in each batch, there will be 3 Shifts viz Morning , Afternoon and Evening Shifts

You have to appear for CHSL Exam on a Single Shift only

It is expected that approximately, 30 lakh candidates, will appear for the CHSL 2016 Tier-1 Online Exam. and out of those who pass the the Tier-1 Online Exam, will be shortlisted for Descriptive Paper, which is scheduled in April, 2017.

While, SSCNR (Northern Region) is the first to release Admit Cards, while, the SSCNWR (North western Region) had announced the Application status for CHSL Exam.

When SSC CHSL Admit Cards can be Downloaded?

Here in this section, we will discuss the Tentative Schedule for downloading of Admit cards. Generally, Admit cards for SSC Exam are available at least 2 weeks before the exam Date. But going by the records of CGL 2016 Exam, Admit Cards were released only 10 Days before the exam.

As the CHSL Exams are starting from 7th Jan, 2016. So Admit cards, will be available by the Last week of December, 2016. 

The most expected Date for availability of CHSL Admit card is 26th Dec, 2016.

SSC CHSL 2016 Application Status : Check Now

Have you Applied for SSC CHSL 2016 Exam ? Check Now whether your Application is Accepted Or Rejected


SSC CHSL 2016 Dates have been confirmed now and the Tier-1 Exams are commencing from 7th January to 5th February, 2017. Now the next thing, you would like to know is the availability of SSC CHSL 2016 Admit cards, but prior to that SSC had released the Link to check your Application Status for CHSL 2016 Exam.

The Application status will let you know whether your Application for CHSL Exam is Accepted or Rejected. In case, your application is rejected, then you cannot download your Admit Card and can neither appear in the exam and those whose application is approved, they can download their CHSL 2016 Admit cards soon. It is expected that Admit Cards for CHSL Exam will be released after 25 the December, 2016 and for that SSC may release a separate Notification.

It is worth mentioning here that SSC will conduct the CHSL Tier-1 Exam through computer based Online mode in three different shifts viz Morning, Evening and Afternoon. You have to appear for CHSL Tier-1 Exam only at One Centre in Single shift only

From 2016, Exam SSC had some important changes in that Pattern and Scheme of Exam, if you are not aware of it, then you are advised to read our previous post on Detailed Syllabus for SSC CHSL 2016 Exam.

In this post, we will discuss the process for checking the Application Status for SSC CHSL 2016 Exam. Checking the status, will help you in knowing whether you have submitted an error free application form OR something is missing. 

Moreover, in case of any mismatch, you can immediately contact the Regional SSC Office. 

Update: As the CHSL Application Status is to released by Regional SSC Offices on their Respective websites, therefore you have to log on to the Website of specific SSC Office to which you have submitted your application form. 

SSCNWR (SSC-North Western Region) is the first to announce the Application Status for CHSL 2016 Exam. It is the expected that other SSC Regional Offices will follow the suite and release the link to check Application status for CHSL exam. On 26th Dec, 2016, SSCNR had released the Call Letters for SSC CHSL 2016 Exam while other Regional offices are yet to release their call letters.
