Recruitment for Scientific Assistants is done by SSC on the behalf of Meterological Department. SSC will only conduct the Written Exam for Aspirants, Prepare the Category wise Merit Lists and hand it over to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), who is turn will announce the Final Results.

1) Metrological Assistant is a Group B Non Gazetted Post in the Department of Meteorological Department.

2) No of vacancies are 1102 , which is tentative only and can be increased or decreased, depending upon the Final vacancy position.

3) Online Registration has started and you can apply online till 4th August, 2017.

4) Basically this Recruitment is for Science Computer and Engineering Graduates only

5) Maximum Age should not exceed 30 years

6) Selection Process comprises of Written test having 200 Objective Questions of 2 Hours Duration. Exam will be held through Computer based online mode




SSC Meteorological Notification : Important Dates


As per the SSC Exam Calendar 2017, this Scientific Assistants Notification was to be announced on 15th July, but later dates were changed and Notification was announced on 18th July, 2017.

SSC invites online applications from the eligible Indian for the below mentioned posts in the Indian Meteorological Department.

1) Post: Scientific Assistant


2) Pay Scale: Level 6 of the Pay Matrix (Pay Band 2 (Rs.9300-34800) plus Grade Pay Rs.4200 in pre-revised scale).

SSC CHSL 2017 Notification


What is the Eligibility Criteria?


Applicants willing to apply for Scientific Assistants Exam by SSC should full fill the below mentioned eligibility conditions.

1) Age Limit: Applicant's maximum age should not exceed 30 years, there is No fixation of minimum age as such . The cut off date for determining the Age Limit is 4th August, 2017.

2) Educational Qualifications: Applicant should follow the below mentioned Qualification criteria

i) Applicant should have Degree in Science (With Physics as One of the Subjects) OR

ii) Degree in Computer Applications / Computer Science Or Information Technology OR

iii) Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized Institution Or University.


Keep Note of the Following Points

1) Applicant must have passed the Degree Or Diploma in First Class (60% ) Marks OR 6.75 CGPA on a 10 Point Scale

2) Degree OR Diploma should be of 3 years after 10+2

3) Applicant should have passed the 12th Class with Physics and Maths as Main subjects.

Note: Applicants should keep note of this, that they should have obtained their Educational Qualification criteria before the closing date of submitting the online applications ie 4th August, 2017.


Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The Selection Process for the Recruitment of Scientific Assistants in IMD comprises of Written test to be held through Computer Based Mode . As per the Official Notification the Date of Written test is tentatively schedule from 20th Nov to 27th Nov, 2017

The Total Duration of Written Exam is 2 Hours

Note: There will be penalty of 0.25 Marks for Both Part 1 and Part 2, therefore be careful while selecting the options.

How to Apply?


Applicants who full fill the above mentioned eligibility conditions and willing to apply for Scientific Assistants Jobs, should submit their applications through online mode before 4th august, 2017.

Online Applications: Applications are to be submitted through Online mode only.

i) Registrations can be done the SSC Online Website @ www.ssconline.nic.in

ii) Registration Window is open from 18th July to 4th August, 2017.

iii) Before you proceed for Online Registration, make sure you have Scanned copies of Photograph and Signature as these are required at the time of Registration

iv) After successful submission of application form, you should take not of Registration ID which is need to Downloading the Admit Card, checking your Results and other future course of action.

Application Fees: Applicants need to Pay Rs 100 as application fee either through SBI Online Mode (Net Banking, Credit / Debit Card) OR through Offline mode by paying application fees through Challan form in any SBI Bank Branch
