  • SSC announced the CHSL 2016 Tier-1 Results on 1st June 2017, in which approximately 53000 candidates are shortlisted for Descriptive Paper. 
  • Exact Date of SSC CHSL Descriptive Paper will be available soon on the Regional Websites. Remember, 25th June is a Tentative Date only and Exact date will be known, only after these will be announced on Regional Websites.

SSC CHSL 2016 Tier-1 results were announced on 1st June 2017, in which approximately 53,000 candidates are Shortlisted for the Descriptive Paper (Tier-2 Exam). It is worth mentioning here that 30 lakh candidates have appeared in the exam and out of which only 1.76% are shortlisted for Next stage.

It was for the First time in 2016 that SSC CHSL Exams were held through online mode and this Shifting has an impact on the Cut off Marks. We have already seen an increase in the Cut off Marks for SSC CGL 2016 Exam, after it was held through online mode and this time, the same thing happened in CHSL Exam too, with Cut off go as high as 127 Marks. For 2015 CHSL Exam, Cut off were 119 Marks.

Now the Next step for those who Qualify the Tier-1 Exam is to appear in the Tier-2 stage comprising of Descriptive Paper.

This is for the 2nd time, there will be a descriptive paper in CHSL Exam. Descriptive Paper was conducted for the first time in CHSL 2015 Exam.

In the results that were announced on 29th July 2016, out of 30 lakh candidates, that appeared for the exam in the month of Nov/Dec 2015, only 60 thousand made it to the next stage of the Exam (ie Descriptive Paper). ie. Only 2 % of the appearing candidates. that means 98% candidates are left disappointed. and for 2016 CHSL Exam, the picture remains, even more, worse with only 1.76% candidates making it to the Descriptive Paper

If, you will be the one of those, who is not selected in the CHSL 2016 Tier-1 Results, then, you should start preparing for SSC CHSL 2017 Exam, as the Notification, will be announced in the month of November 2017. It is expected that there will be around 8,000 posts in the SSC CHSL 2017 Exam.

In this post, we will discuss in detail, regarding the Syllabus, Exam Pattern of SSC CHSL Descriptive paper, so that candidates will be aware of what the paper is composed of and What they actually need to prepare for so that, they can appear for the exam with full preparation with No doubts whatsoever in their mind.

First, you must note that Descriptive paper is only for those, who have Qualified the CHSL Tier-1 Written Exam. The names and Roll No.s of those who qualify the CHSL 2016 Tier-1 Exam, will be announced, at the time of declaration of results.

Date: The CHSL 2016 Descriptive Paper is tentatively scheduled 25th June 2017 (Not Confirmed). That means you don't have much time to prepare for the paper.

Syllabus of Descriptive Paper

As, the name speaks, descriptive paper is a written exam in descriptive form. It is expected that Descriptive Paper will be bi-Lingual and candidates have the option to write the paper in either Hindi or English.

The Syllabus for descriptive paper, comprises of Letter Writing, Essay OR comprehension.

The Detailed Syllabus and Explanatory Note on the composition of SSC CHSL descriptive paper, will be uploaded on the SSC's website soon.

Explanatory Note : SSC CHSL Descriptive Paper 

SSC will soon announce the notification, regarding the conduct of Descriptive Paper. It is expected that Descriptive Paper Notification, will be announced after the declaration of Tier-1 Results.

As per the already announced schedule of SSC Exams,, Descriptive Paper is tentatively scheduled to be held in the month of June, 2017 and Admit Cards will be released from 2nd or 3rd week of June, 2017. 

The Paper can be given in either Hindi Or English Only. 

The Duration of Exam is 1 Hours only and minimum 33% marks are needed to qualify the descriptive Paper. The Final merit is prepared by candidates performance in the Tier-1(Objective test) and Tier-2 (Descriptive Paper).

The Syllabus of CHSL 2016 Descriptive Paper is 

1) Essay Writing of 200 to 250 words
2) Letter / Application writing of approx 150 to 200 words.

Admit cards for CHSL 2016 Descriptive Paper

SSC will soon release the Admission Certificates (Admit cards) for CHSL-2016 exam. The Admit cards, will be hosted on the Regional SSC websites at least 2 weeks before the exam date.

Applicants can download their Admit cards by using their Registration Details viz : Registration No and a combination of Date of Birth. To download admit cards, you should log on to the correct SSC Regional Website.

Eg If, you belong to Delhi, Harayana, Punjab, J&K and HP, then you need to download the Admit cards from the SSCNWR Website

SSC CHSL Tier-1 Answer Keys Released

With the release of Official answer keys, it looks SSC CHSL 2016 Tier-1 Results can be expected soon. If we go by the track record of SSC, those results are normally announced on 20-25 days of publishing the answer keys.

As the SSC CHSL 2016 Descriptive Paper is expected to be held in April, so we can expect the results to be announced by the last week of March 2017 or First Week of 2017.

  10. both English and hindi option will be their. u have to write in any one language. paper written in mixed language (English + Hindi) will not be evaluated.
